Shirley SofferAstrologer, authorIt was not so much a case of me getting into astrology as it was of astrology getting into me around 1985. I now know that transiting Uranus was on my Ascendant then, and although I always had a passive interest in astrology, it suddenly was as if I had awakened from a dream - a dream that in its urgency had to become a reality. I was writing a novel at the time, but found myself more and more reading astrology books instead of working on my novel. Indeed, I did virtually nothing else for the next 3 years but immerse myself in astrology books.By 1988, I knew with certainty I was to be a working astrologer, and began to study with my teacher, Eileen McCabe, remaining in her weekly classes for five years. During that time, I became certified by the NCGR as a consulting astrologer, and launched my practice in 1992. I've continued to develop my practice since then, honing my skills as a counseling astrologer by enrolling at the Jung Center in their Professional Training Seminars over a five year period. Today I have a full and gratifying practice in astrology and a busy teaching and lecturing schedule. The novel never got finished, but I did publish The Astrology Sourcebook in 1999, which - as fate would have it - completed the circle for me. |
