This is a downloadable set of four mp3 files of a day-long research symposium. The purpose of the symposium was to take stock of the changes and developments that are happening in the astrological community at the present time, by looking backwards at the traditions which have preceded us. In doing so, the goal of the symposium was to gain some perspective on what previous periods of transmission and synthesis have produced, as well as what synthesis will likely emerge in our own time. The day-long series of presentations was directed at exploring recent research into the development and transmission of specific astrological techniques and concepts in various ancient astrological traditions from the Babylonian period through the late Renaissance, identifiying and discussing developments that have taken place in the modern period, and examining how other types of research have expanded the scope of astrological practice. This was by far one of the most popular and well-attended events at the Cambridge 2010 conference. The topics discussed in the symposium will be covered in print in the 2010 NCGR Research Journal (in press).
